Guests will sit on the floor (don’t worry, there will be some chairs for anyone needs one), and the service will include Punjabi music, prayers and lavaan, the official marriage ritual. Afterwards, guests will move to the langar hall for langar, a customary free vegetarian meal. Consult the Gurdhwara Guidelines for a complete guide to the ceremony.

- About: We will have our photoshoot outside by the Terrasse Saint-Ambroise, next to the Lachine Canal and in the shadow of the old Canada Malting Plant. The Terrasse Saint-Ambroise is a beautiful brasserie (brewery) with a large outdoor patio. There are no reservations taken, but it is easy enough to commandeer a few tables for everyone in the photos (family members) and anyone else who wants to come enjoy a beer and experience le vrai Montréal.
6:00PM: Reception – Saturday evening

- Dress: Formal
- About: We’ll celebrate in style in Grenier Hall at the first auberge (inn) in North America (dating back to 1688!). We start with a cocktail/mocktail hour at 6pm in the Piano Room, and eventually will move over to the dining room for dinner and dancing. DJs DjD and PapaQ will provide the soundtrack for the evening with a mix of our favourite music, including rock, pop, R&B, reggae, soul, and of course plenty of Punjabi Bhangra music.
- Additional information:
- Access: Grenier Hall, where the reception will be held, is on the 3rd floor and requires climbing 50 stairs to get there. If you or someone accompanying you need help or extra time getting up the stairs, we recommend you arrive at 5:30, and the Auberge Saint-Gabriel staff will be available to assist as needed.
- Bar service: There will be an open bar during the cocktail hour and dinner, and wine will be served at the tables during the dinner service. The bar will change to a cash bar once the dinner service concludes.

- Time: 10:30 am
- Who: This is a totally informal/optional event for whoever is around and wants to join!
- Dress: Come as you are
- About: On Sunday, after the wedding, we look forward to hanging out with family, and especially those who have travelled to attend! We’ve made a reservation for Sunday morning at La Petite Marche, a good spot in our hood for a relaxed brunch in true Montreal style.
- Additional information:
- We’ll get an accurate tally of everyone who wants to come and update the reservation to ensure we have the right number of seats.
- For any guests staying though the day Sunday, we can recommend a walk in the neighbourhood or on the mountain (Parc du Mont-Royal) after, and a visit to our home later in the afternoon with some pizza from our favourite neighbourhood pizzaria. (We do live in Little Italy, after all…)
We are so excited to share this weekend with you! – M & J
